Michael Martin and Elke Wallner spent 900 days on the road, crossing barren rocky mountains, defying hour-long sandstorms, braving bitter cold and surviving killer heat. And despite hosts of dangers, the two experienced a great deal of unique moments.

The Deserts of Asia Episode: Iran
This part of the trip leads through Iran. From the Bam oasis, the first destination, the travel party heads to the Lut Desert and the Great Kavir Salt Desert. Michael Martin and Elke Wallner are the first Europeans hosted by an extended family of nomads. Impressive footage provides insight into their way of life and the world they live in.
It is the images' intensity and beauty, above all, and their authenticity that are the hallmark of movies about the world's deserts. The two travelers made the conscious decision of doing without an external film team, traveling together on a motorcycle to ensure they would get "real close" when shooting.
