On to new horizons - or better, mountains! This year, the international Mammut climbing team has walked in the tracks of Lorenz Saladin, a Swiss climber who discovered Kirgistan's mountains for himself in the 1930s.

This year's Mammut team trip proves that there is plenty of climbing to be done in Kirgistan! In early July, Nina Caprez, Stephan Siegrist, David Lama, and Giovanni Quirici packed their backpacks and set out for the Tian Shan Mountains, where they plan to be the first to scale a Big Wall Route in Karavshin Valley. Maybe it's a lack of 27,000-footers that has kept the country bordering China from joining the elite group of top climbing destinations that counts Pakistan and Nepal among its members. It's high time for a change.
