„I've given lots of things a shot. I'm too dumb to play chess. I've got no talent to play soccer and my legs are too skinny to ski..." says Markus Bendler about himself. So the only thing left was climbing... Climbing is vital to the Austrian and at least as important as eating and sleeping. Markus is an exceptional climber. Not only because he negotiates routes with a degree of difficulty that is impossible to top and feels right at home when climbing ice rather than rocks. It is his exceptional practice methods that really set him apart. He is a far cry from conventional indoor climbing. To prepare for competitions, he often spends hours in his private practice room, which houses a daring self-made structure sporting grips and campusboard slats and rails. It's proven it works! After all, Markus is the incumbent ice climbing world champion.
