Say goodbye to paddling in rivers and creeks. Ever seen a kayak on a ski slope? You may have, but never this radical. A new sport is born: freeride kayaking. Snow kayaking is taking kayaking into the snow.

Snow kayaking is taking kayaking into the snow. No more paddling in rivers or creeks, it's the ski slopes that beckon. Preferably, bob run-like race courses bounded by steep walls are built to keep the boat on track, especially if it is piloted by less experienced athletes.
Canoeists have embraced this sport as a hobby for many years to exercise their sense of balance and coordinative powers even in winter. Since around 2000, this variety of kayaking has evolved into a fun sport practiced by non-canoeists as well. Olaf Obsommer and his Nussdorf kayaking crew show how it's done.
