Maligne Ice Walk
This is where waterfalls plunge deeply into gorges in summer and torrential rivers flow through canyons. In winter, a unique adventure awaits visitors: the Maligne Ice Walk!
Walls rise more than 160 feet left and right. The trail runs across a frozen riverbed through the limestone gorge. Frozen waterfalls and bizarre ice formations surround hikers as they trudge across the ice. Alberta is not just a paradise for skiers and snowboarders. Snowshoes allow visitors to penetrate deeply into untouched terrain blanketed by a thick snow cover. And another highlight awaits them in winter: spectacular aurora borealis. Between September and April, a guided aurora borealis tour is a must during any trip to Alberta.
